It all starts with the training of employees and the expertise of the management.

MTB Cleaning Services provides contract and hospital cleaning services, as well as environmental services and archive disposal services. The 120-person team consists of long-term employees, subcontractors, and outsourced personell.

Mia Jaaranen, CEO of MTB Cleaning Services, believes that a good onboarding and training process is directly linked to low turnover: “Some of our employees and subcontractors have been with us for over a decade.”

Everyone is given the responsibility of maintaining their site’s cleanliness standards according to the INSTA 800 quality system. Employees and subcontractors attend the MTB Academy, where they are trained in the use of cleaning agents and equipments, as well as work safety. Training begins prior to arriving at the site and continues at the location. Jaaranen mentions that environmental awareness and “green thinking” have been incorporated into MTB’s operations, stating that “our company’s environmental values are also reflected in the training of our employees.”

Jaaranen also emphazises the importance of ongoing development for service supervisors: “Two of our service supervisors are currently pursuing a cleaning technician certification alongside their work. This apprenticeship allows them to refresh their skills and stay updated with industry trends.” Additionally, service supervisors and managers attend external courses in areas such as hygiene, aseptic practices, work planning, customer service, and cleaning techniques. One of the most recent courses offered by the SSTL Cleaning Industry Association focuses on pool and wet room hygiene.

Jaaranen also emphasizes the importance of multicultural training for service supervisors, helping them effectively integrate people from various cultural backgrounds into the cleaning industry.
