The best place to work
MTB Cleaning Services Wins Again: Finland’s Best Workplace for the Second Time
MTB-Siivouspalvelu Oy has been selected as Finland’s Best Workplace in the medium-sized company category for 2026. This marks the second time the company has received the same recognition—the previous time being in 2024.
MTB Cleaning Services is a second-generation family business led by siblings Mia and Nea Backström. From the very beginning, the company’s core has been built on employee well-being, fair leadership, and a strong sense of community.
The Finland’s Best Workplaces 2026 recognition is based on employees’ own experiences of their workplace. According to the Great Place To Work® study, MTB-Siivouspalvelu Oy stands out for equal treatment and a genuine culture of care: 97% of employees feel they are treated equally regardless of their background. Open employee feedback highlights that people are known personally and that support is present regardless of how the work is carried out. This strong family-business sense of community forms the foundation of its unique culture.
“MTB-Siivouspalvelu Oy demonstrates that responsibility, everyday care, and demanding service work can consistently go hand in hand,” says Kirsi Ilmasti, CEO of Great Place To Work® Finland.
The study also included anonymous employee comments reflecting everyday workplace experiences:
- “Every employee is valued.”
- “We treat each other like family and well, that’s why I’ve stayed in this job for over 5 years.”
- “Managers care and make sure everything is in order.”
- “At MTB, I feel appreciated and cared for.”
- “They value and respect the hard work of employees and treat us like family.”
- “MTB has an excellent team spirit where everyone helps each other when needed.”
- “The company leadership is ready to help us and genuinely cares about employees.”
- “This is a great workplace. The leadership is good and treats employees fairly.”
- “The way they treat employees makes me feel fortunate.”
- “The company gives everyone the opportunity to shine and supports employee growth.”
The recognition demonstrates that long-term investment in employee well-being translates directly into employee experience and ultimately into business success. A committed and thriving workforce is directly reflected in work quality and customer experience.
Employee Survey – The Key to Building Company Culture and Success
Sales and Marketing Director Nea Backström lists the reasons why employee surveys play a crucial role in building the company culture:
- Job satisfaction and engagement: Employee surveys help organizations assess employee satisfaction and engagement. Satisfied and engaged employees are more likely to be motivated and productive.
- Atmosphere and organizational culture: Surveys can provide insights into the organization’s atmosphere and culture. This helps identify potential problem areas and improve the work environment.
- Leadership development: Employee surveys provide information on how leadership is perceived within the organization. Strengths and potential weaknesses in leadership can be identified, enabling improvements to be made.
- Efficiency and productivity: Surveys can help evaluate work efficiency and productivity. Identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies helps the organization improve its operations.
- Promoting well-being at work: Surveys can provide insights into employee well-being and health. This is important for both individual and overall organizational performance.
- Talent management: Surveys allow organizations to identify and retain key personnel while developing strategies to attract new talent.
- Employee experience: Employee surveys help the organization understand how employees perceive their work and what factors influence their experience.
- Monitoring procedures: The results of surveys can be used as benchmarks for measuring and tracking the effectiveness of improvement actions over time.
Overall, employee surveys are a valuable tool in an organizations development, ensuring that both employees and the company can succeed together and achieve their goals.

MTB Cleaning Services is Finland's and Europe's best workplace 2024
MTB Cleaning Services claimed first place in Finland’s Best Workplaces™ 2024 competition and was awarded ninth place among Europe’s Best Workplaces in the Great Place To Work® category for small and medium-sized companies. This achievement demonstrates the company’s commitment to the well-being of its employees and the work atmosphere and culture, in which MTB shows leadership as a provider of responsible corporate cleaning services.
In Finland’s Best Workplaces™ 2024 survey, as many as 98% of employees say that MTB is an overall great workplace. The corresponding figure in a typical Finnish company is 38%. The employee survey conducted in the fall of 2023 achieved outstanding results;
100% of respondents agreed that “Here, I can be myself.”
100% of respondents feel that MTB is a physically safe workplace.
100% of respondents feel pride in telling others they work at MTB.
100% of respondents believe that MTB is fun to work at.
According to CEO Mia Backström, the success comes from employees being strongly involved in building the company. Cleaners are given responsibility for their work, and their ideas are heard regarding the organization of their work.
The employee survey is an important tool for organizations, as it provides a comprehensive picture of employees’ needs, expectations, and experiences. Following the 2021 survey, improvements were made in areas such as enhancing employee rewards, leading to the launch of the Reward Fund, from which an equal share is distributed annually to the staff. The survey also allowed for open comments;
“I felt that the MTB Reward Fund has been a great indication of how the company wants to reward its staff and directly share profits with the employees.”
“Employers never look down on their employees, they lift us up and make us feel we are one big happy family. They accept our flaws and mistakes and help us grow.”
